Jamie Schroder is going to the 2008 Olympics in the M4x. He's marrying a local girl in October and will be rowing out of BRC after the Olympics. WBAL interviewed him at the boathouse this weekend and that segment will probably air in August during the Olympics.
It's not every day a 6'8" rower is in Baltimore.
He's getting interviewed by Pete Gilbert, the sports anchor at WBAL. Pete gave me his card and said to call before our head race in September. Woo!
At the Charm City Sprints, we met a crew from China Central Television doing a story on Sports in America. They were filming fishing. huh? So when we had a regatta on site that day, they were interested in doing a story on rowing. They've been working with Marc, the head coach, on getting shots of crews rowing and a few interviews. I got interviewed last Wednesday, then CCTV went to the Capital Sprints to watch Baltimore race on the Anacostia River. This weekend they came back to BRC to film Marc coaching. The weather wasn't that cooperative but we did the best we could.
Marc preps his single so that Zhu can film an intro from his boat.
She's a fast learner!
Smiley camera guy films the intro from the dock.
Sometimes it takes a few takes (the audio is faint):
And still the first take is sometimes the best:
Filming may continue tonight since they weren't sure the audio was recorded at all.
