Standoff at Pintail Ct

I was really tired yesterday and planned to relax on my couch for the evening. I was outside with the boys, talking to my neighbor Tim, also out with his black lab Guinness. It was a gorgeous day and all the neighborhood kids were playing outside.

Our neighbor Antonio (aka "Lennox Lewis"), who lives between us, comes out. We say "Hi" and go back to talking about doggies. Soon a navy minivan comes barreling around the corner with both back doors open. I was getting ready to yell at them to slow down, when the guy in the back (wearing a bulletproof vest, sunglasses, and a helmet and holding a long black gun) yells at me to "Get in your house! Get the kids inside!" I take one more look at the gun and run up my stairs pushing the doggies inside the house.

The dogs run to the front window and I tuck them behind the gate in the kitchen. I see all sorts of SUVs block in Antonio's car. The guys in bulletproof vests with "Police" and "US Marshal" on the back, wearing helmets and carrying guns bang on his window. "Get out of the car!" They take him out of the car, cuff him and put him in the back of the minivan.

I freak out and call everyone I know. I hide upstairs and watch the action. Apparently the rest of the neighborhood watches also - from outside and across the street. Tim later said he jumped on top of Guinness and hit the lawn in front of our other neighbor's house!

The minivan that takes Antonio away.

The police call the neighbor across the street to come take Antonio's kids.

More SUVs with lights flashing.

The minivan had been staking out the entrance to the neighborhood, and a black Crown Vic had been parked on our street for the half hour before waiting for him to come out. And when he did, they all pounced!

His kids were all crying at the neighbor's house, and his wife was inside their house. All the neighbors congregated at the lady-across-the-street's house and we had an informal meet-and-greet.

Tim & I saw Antonio's wife later leaving her house and she was crying. "I'm sorry. He has bad friends." she says. Apparently. The story I got was that he had a friend that was wanted for murder. But that's a helluva response for a friend of a wanted man. The lady across the street tells me that both Antonio and his wife have prior convictions for crack something? (possession/distribution). She found their Maryland Judiciary case convictions online by entering their first and last name. All I know is that they both take off in their Lexus and Mercedes at 11:30pm weekdays/weekends leaving 3 young kids in the house all night, and they have 3 dogs that bark a lot and poop in my yard. That's some animal control response!

After a bit, I calmed down and headed to the basement with the doggies. I fell asleep there watching the hockey game and woke up still not feeling very rested.
